This is a project for a local Altered Book Art Show.
Books were donated from the local library to artists to create a piece of art . These books would otherwise have been thrown away.So we recycle and renew at the same time.
The reception for this show is July 11th 1 - 4 pm
at the Sonora Public Library. 480 Greenley Rd,.
Sonora, CA 95370 The Show runs through the month of July 2009.
The Idea of the Reliquary came from my trips to Italy and the rather odd idea of a relic , of something or someone, held in high esteem, would be saved in an ornate container to be viewed.
Books, may be seen in such a fashion in the future, but also, I hold this as perhaps my own self portrait.
It also was honored with first place in the judging of this show.
